Get a series of Postcards (serie1) from famous book “PATAGONIA UNKNOWN”
The following images were part of an editorial project carried on from 2007 to 2013, titled “PATAGONIA, the south of the world when the world finished”, an authorship that led him to travel 17,000 km from Rio Colorado to the Magellan Strait, from the Andes to the Pacific. The geographical region is more than 900,000 sq. km, three times bigger than Italy, 33 percent more than Texas in sq. km.
With a density of 2.21 inhabitants for sq. km, 2500 km from La Pampa to Rio Gallegos town and it is inhabited by millions of sheep and silent gauchos that still live isolated for months. He was inspired by the gestures and the looks of those who live, work, and seek to fight in the South of the world, who still represent the true spirit of Patagonia. A world conserved through time, solitary places where even today you can see gauchos riding a horse in the dry steppe of Patagonia.
The desolate, old, abandoned railway stations, Pilcaniyeu, Leleque, Esquel – what remains of The Argentine Southern Land Company Limited, founded at the end of the nineteenth century and indisputable landowner of the fates of southern Patagonia – saw the transformation of the same land, become in kilometers of barbed wire, marking the boundaries of the great “Estancias”, which count for more than a thousand hectares. He went back several times to the human deserts where God and the Wind still reign, in order to complete his “vision” of Patagonia. There, no other fact of actuality seemed so fascinating as this work linked to the culture of his land.
